My New Album Nostalgia RED is Available!

Today my project Nostalgia RED was released via all major online music stores! It feels really good to finally let this one go! I know God has some great things in store for me and my music and I'm very thankful that I have the opportunity to not only make music but release it for the world and my peers to hear.

For those of you who miss the "golden era " of hip hop (Biggie, 2 Pac, Nasty Nas, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, Gang Starr, Black Moon, Wu-Tang etc) my project Nostalgia RED is for you!

NR is actually my first hip hop release and I feel it's some of my best work. After having several conversations  with associates and good friends, I realized that people are missing the good ole' days of music. People are yearning for something nostalgic and I thought, "Why am I not creating something musically for these people to listen to"? The people are the reason I created NR. This one is for all of you 25 and over fans of hip hop. I really think you'll enjoy!

So the other day I get an email from a friend of mine who sends me the following link: Sonic Soul. I proceed to click on the link and I'm taken to a page where I see my 2007 album "The Melting Pot" is being reviewed. As I looked closer and attempted to get my read on...I realize the article is written in German. Now I lived in Germany for 3.5 years and never learned any German what-so-ever! Now I'm starting to wish I would have taken more advantage of my experiences. Especially Spanish. I've toured South America several times and every time I come back home I say I'm going to learn Spanish and never do. I can't even complete a decent sentence in Spanish. Como esta? That's about it.

Anyhow, big up to my German foundation (especially Baumholder Germany) and much love to Jorg Michael Schmitt over at Sonic Soul  for the review (even though I'm 4 years late reading it). I was able to get it translated via the Internet...

Tha Bizness x Jahah

It's always nice to receive respect from your peers and fellow musicians. The Grammy nominated production duo Tha Bizness featured my song and video "Freak the Funk" on there website. I've written and co-produced a lot of great songs with Tha Bizness that the world has yet to hear. Hopefully God's will is to let the world hear these songs (with a machine behind them) very soon. That would be lovely...in due time I suppose. Shout out to Tha Bizness for the feature. Gracias!

Jahah "I Freak (The Funk)" (Official Music Video)

On June 28TH, 2011 my project Nostalgia RED will be available on Itunes and all the other major online distributors. Today I wanted to get cha' open to a song and video off this project called "Freak the Funk". This was the second song I recorded for the project and probably the most fun I've had in the studio in quite a while. The video was shot with a Canon Rebel T2i in my homies drive way and at the Marietta train station (Georgia). I hope you'll enjoy the nostalgia!

A Tribe Called Quest Documentary

Today I was sent the Tribe Called Quest documentary! I just finished watching it and if you're a documentary watcher and a die-hard fan of Tribe (which I am) you will not be disappointed on July 8th when it's released. It's inspiring, frustrating, and honest...don't take it from me though...go see the documentary for yourself. Then let me know what you think. Peace...like they use to say!

What I Use to Shoot My Videos: Canon Rebel T2i

The other day I was asked what camera is used to make my videos. At that very moment I thought to myself, "This would be a good post for my blog/website". I'd like to share as much as possible with my audience and any information I have that might be able to help someone else grow. No holding back the wealth over here. There's room at the top for all of us!

With that being said, the camera that's been used for most of the videos you see from me is the Canon Rebel T2i. The lenses used can vary but the camera remains the same. From what I understand, the T2i uses the same video sensor as the slightly more expensive Canon 7D. However, the 7D is said to take better pictures.
(For the newbies: The lens you use can make a world of difference. Get a good lens if it's within your budget).

All video editing is done in Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Most of the color correction is assisted with the use of Red Giants software Magic Bullet Looks. The first time I saw MBL in action I was amazed by how well it can take the footage you shot and instantly manipulate it to look totally different (and often times better). Most of the time we use a MBL preset as a starting point and then make further adjustments (to our liking).

Lastly I 'd like to say that my team and I are not video or editing experts by any means. Not even close! A lot of what we do is based on trial and error. One day we woke up and decided to jump in the deep end. We wanted to start making moves and instead of waiting for a label or someone to lend us a helping hand...we decided to help ourselves. Over the past 2 years we've shot 5 videos and we've progressively gotten better with each one.

Wherever you are I hope the information above will inspire you to dream B.I.G. and be proactive! If me and my homies can do it...so can you!

Nostalgia Red - Digital Booklet

Here are the liner notes to my new album "Nostalgia Red". Nostalgia Red Liner Notes

Cool Million ft. Jahah - Musiq (Old School Slide Remix)

Over the years I've had the opportunity to work with some great artist's and producer's across the pond and of course The United States.

One of the production duo's I've had the luxury of working with is the collective known as Cool Million (Denmark). I've been featured on two of their internationally acclaimed albums and look forward to working with them again in the near future.

What you'll hear above is a remix of song I did with Cool Million entitled Musiq. What I always find interesting about these remixes is what they (the re-mixer) do to my voice. It always seems as if my voice is taken out of tune on certain phrases and I find that to be very interesting (to say the least). I also love to hear how the re-mixer switches things up and puts my vocals over a bed of what I call "House" or "Dance" music. The original song for Musiq is an 80s inspired R&B tune. Real sincere 80s music.

I've had a great relationship with Cool Million so I never trip. I like their work a lot and always look forward to them releasing new records. As far as I'm concerned it's a win/win situation.

Click here for more on the impeccable Cool Million.

My 2 Cents: Whats up with Music?

For those who know me well...you understand that I'm not a very serious person. I do have serious moments and deep conversations from time to time but I try to live a healthy/care free lifestyle. Stress free! My show "My 2 Cents" is unscripted and off the top of the dome. I basically just get in front of a camera and topics are thrown at me. I'm usually not prepared to speak on these topics but I tackle them anyway. That's what makes "My 2 Cents" so honest and fun in my opinion. I say whatever's on my mind. Even if it's the wrong thing to say. Half the time I'm just rambling and that's interesting enough. As a human I'm FAR from being perfect and M2C reflects that. No teleprompter. No script. No hype. No producer. Just me and a Canon Rebel T2i.

Jahah "Nostaligia Red" Promo

On June 30th via Itunes (Amazon, Rhapsody, and EMusic etc.) I will bring you the hip hop you grew up on. I call this my contemporary / throwback project and I can't wait for you to soak it up. Nostalgia RED is ready to be set free for your listening pleasure...

hip hop is back!

Atlanta 2 Peru - Journey of a Hip-Hop Band Part I

I've been blessed to have the opportunity to travel via music. One of the many spots I've toured through is the great country of Peru! While in Peru I decided to be vain and film myself and my band with a Flip Mino and make a documentary. This is my first attempt at making a documentary and I totally shot it by myself. I'm not ashamed to say that either cause' I'm a beast with a Flip Mino sun! Get cha' Flip Mino game up sun! Big up to my dude Loc' for helping me turn this footage into something I could actually use. The truth is...I need to get my own game up with the Flip Mino.

Jahah "Everyday" (Official Music Video) HOT!

On a cold night in Atlanta, my team and I grabbed a Canon Rebel T2i and hit the downtown streets for a little viral video business. The very next day the video of our night out was chopped and edited. We call this one "Everyday"!

This record is on my new contemporary / throwback entitled Nostalgia RED. Available on iTunes June 30th!
